A Bit About Emily

Emily proudly resides in the hills of East Tennessee, where she was born and raised, with her husband and daughter. Long before she was an author, Emily worked as a cosmetologist, but it no longer fulfilled her as it had previously. She began working as a CNA part-time and found nursing to be her true passion. She took a leap and went to nursing school, where she went on to become a registered nurse.

Emily's life took a new turn when her daughter, Olivia, was born. The joy and love that Olivia brought into her life surpassed even her greatest accomplishment of becoming a nurse. Despite the challenges of infertility and a miscarriage, Olivia's arrival filled Emily's life with warmth and love, making her realize that being a mother was her true calling.

With her husband’s support, prayers, and childcare falling through at what seemed like the perfect time, Emily resigned from her dream job to stay home with Olivia.

Neither Emily nor her husband know how the nickname “Livi Chicken” came to be, but it did, and it stuck. It seems a fitting nickname as Olivia loves spending time with her twelve laying hens.

Emily strongly believes that reading to children ignites their imagination and creativity while creating a bond between reader and child. Emily tries to read at least one book to Olivia each day to help develop her vocabulary, foster her creativity, and bond even more as mother and child. This practice has not only enhanced Olivia's language skills and creativity but also played a significant role in the creation of the 'Livi Chicken Mysteries '.

Emily believes teaching children valuable life skills, like farming and gardening, will serve them all their lives with skills other than the obvious, such as compassion, empathy, strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to help others.

With that in mind, you can see how the “Livi Chicken Mysteries” came to be.
